160,000 birds have now been ringed at the Ornithological Observatory
 
At 13.00 a.m. on October 13, 2008 the auspicious number of one 160 thousand of birds ringed for scientific purposes was reached at the Arosio Ornithological Observatory of the “Il Nibbio” European Foundation.
A Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla) won the prize for this success and the INFS ring series LL n° 49798 was attached to its tarsus and after species, age, sex, state of plumage, fat and pectoral muscle values had been recordedand some other biometric data observed,
(maximum chorda, 3rd remex and tarsus), it was then weighed and released immediately.
Much ground has been covered in the scientific research of the Arosio Ornithological Observatory since 1977 and the readership position achieved represents teamwork which, year after year, has greatly improved the guidelines laid down by the National Institute for Wild Life which in body responsible in Italy for the Euring project.
