FEIN ornithological observatory
REGISTERED BY EMAS

In its session held on 26 January 2006, the Environmental Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) section of the Ecolabel and Ecoaudit Committee decided to register the Fondazione Europea IL NIBBIO, or FEIN, at number 1-000429, for the arboretum in Arosio and for environmental research and study carried out at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory.

The FEIN Observatory adheres voluntarily to a common system of ecomanagement and ecoauditing and is bound by Regulations to continuously reduce environmental impacts by evaluating the essential elements forming the environment systematically, objectively and repeatedly. It will continue its activities, thanks to EMAS, because of the importance of propagating new methods of biotope management and the development of scientific and didactic activities that improve the knowledge, conservation and exploitation of biodiversity, which is a decisive factor in ornithology and ecology at a European level.

Indeed the main aim of the environmental declaration is to provide the general public and all those interested with information about the Observatory's environmental services and the procedures by which its activities are managed, in particular catching and ringing birds, monitoring, educating and popularizing environmental issues.

This recognition rewards FEIN, its organization and the workers at the Ornithological Observatory of Arosio and its commitment to do even more for the management of its territory and for research that will be even more precisely oriented to the various sections of the current projects.
